Meeting Father Christmas

I could not imagine Christmas without children any more, they make it so special. Their surprised and happy faces on Christmas morning are an absolute joy to see (and makes that late night wrapping on Christmas Eve all worthwhile).

Of course whilst for grown-ups the countdown to Christmas can be fairly stressful, there is
only excitement for little ones with their Christmas lists getting longer, crossing off the days on the advent and then putting up the Christmas tree. Not forgetting that all important trip to Santa's Grotto. I remember well the first time we took our two children to see Father Christmas was at a shopping centre last year. Our youngest (then 2) was just about into it whilst our son (then 5yrs old) was really excited and thankfully the set up was perfect. Their eyes lit up and their mouths were agasp when they saw the giant sparkly grotto with elves awaiting their arrival.
They had their photos taken on the way in, then watched a short film where their faces
Photoshopped in to look like they were elves (more shock and excitement when they
spotted this!) and then the moment arrived.....time with the Big man himself. My super
confident son suddenly became the shyest thing ever and it took a lot of encouragement to get him to approach the lovely ho ho ho Father Christmas sitting by his fireplace. It was veryvsweet to see, he was completely stunned by the moment bless him, like 'wow this really is real'. My 2yr old took some pushing to get involved too, but once she eyed up the presents she was soon convinced.
