Blackberry and Apple Loaf

IMG_1049-1
We're lucky enough to have blackberries growing in the garden, all be it about 3/4 less than this time last year as we've hacked down most of the brambles, but glad we kept some as they are in abundance right now! It's a painful process picking them with those nasty prickles but hey ho needs must.
So what to cook? Well once I rescued the bowl back from baby girl who would eat them all day long, I was thinking...Blackberry and apple pie or crumble is a bit too obvious isn't it? Delicious still yes absolutely but I just had a little look at other recipes and this one grabbed me. It's taken from the BBC Good Food website.

This is my little helper putting the finishing touches to the cake mix by adding the saved blackberries on top and then of course the essential sniff test to give his seal of approval of how hood it smells before we put it in the oven.

It's a really simple recipe and turned out to be delicious. The crumble-y topping on the loaf is especially great so don't miss that part out. Would love to make some blackberry jam next...hmmm we'll see.

  1. Your blackberry and apple loaf looks so delicious and crunchy! I'm glad you shared this recipe because I've never done something like this other than candy apples. I'm sure my kids would love this recipe!

  2. This blackberry and apple loaf looks yummy! My kids would surely love them. I have to assist them in eating too much sweet though or else we might have to pay a visit to the dentist in Jackson TN. They usually get toothaches whenever they eat too much sweets.
