Fairlop Waters

Redbridge music group.
I noticed in a local door drop that there was a Fairlop Fair going on at Fairlop Waters last week so we went and checked it out. It's not too far from me, I used to go sailing with my school there, and it's a really nice open space to visit. They have recently built some new play areas so whilst the water activities are not available to my two just yet, we wanted to check out what else was available.

I thought I would drop a few pictures from our day on here as there were hardly any pictures available (especially of the play areas) when I was trying to check it out online before I set off.
Heading for the water, she so would have just dived in. Minutes after this was taken, there were tears when she was pulled back from the water's edge...
Boulder park, this was one of about 4 or 5 boulders, all as massive as this! As much as they love to climb, too massive for our lot to have a go, but pretty impressive. Great for practising if you're a budding climber and a bit taller than 3 feet!
Another part of the play area.

As for the Fairlop Fair that was going on, it was a little bit sad and in need of more, well more of anything really. There was a local band, a colouring table for kids and some skittles set up for kids to play, but that's really about it. We did catch a bit of storytime on the way out for the kids and also this guy, see video clip above, Ryan Green, who sang a few songs for everyone. He was maybe 15/16, he had a great voice. This little clip I managed to get doesn't do him justice especially with the kids talking over him. Particularly when my boy halted the video by thinking he was being attacked by a wasp at the end. Oops. Had to keep that bit in the video for the comedy of it bless him. (No wasp, he's fine!) Anyway great singer, good luck to him.

Fun afternoon had by all, we will definitely re-visit for the play areas for the kids and an afternoon picnic. And hopefully for the watersports when the kids are older. I think the sailing, canoeing etc. are available to children aged 8yrs+.
Top Tip: Car park on site is pay and display, £1 for 2hrs.
